Sports clubs from across Gippsland that need assistance developing websites, completing basic First-Aid training or umpire accreditation are encouraged to apply for the 2010 Country Action Grant Scheme, Member for Gippsland South and Leader of The Nationals Peter Ryan said.

Mr Ryan said The 2010 Country Action Grants Scheme provides funding to clubs to fund initiatives which improve the skills of club members.

Projects able to be funded are broken down into three areas including initiatives that improve the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the club, that improve the skills of coaches, officials and administrators, or that increase community participation.

“Projects that can be funded may include the preparation of a business plan, the development of policy and procedure manuals or a website,” Mr Ryan said.

“Conversely funding may be acquired for coaching courses, umpiring accreditation or First-Aid.

“Clubs could also use the money to fund promotional material such as Koori-specific, foreign language or even Braille club information fliers.”

Mr Ryan said applications need to be lodged by March 1 with the funding available for projects completed between  July 1 to December 31,  2010.

Full details of the scheme is available online or by phoning the Victorian grants information line on 1300 366 356. Application forms are also available from Mr Ryan’s offices at 54b Cunninghame St Sale.
