Volunteer in Gippsland
Volunteering is a great way to get involved in our local communities, to meet new people and give something back to keep our region strong and vibrant.
If you’re thinking about volunteering, why not consider one of the options below?
Central Gippsland Health Service
Volunteers for Central Gippsland Health Service provide assistance in a wide range of areas, including planned activity groups, community transport, emergency relief, friendly visiting, Meals on Wheels, Pink Ladies and palliative care. If you are interested in becoming involved as a volunteer, contact the Volunteer Program on 5144 1114.
Gippsland Coast Guard
The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association is Australia’s largest and only national volunteer marine rescue organisation.
The Gippsland Squadron has six flotillas and covers from Port Welshpool to Mallacoota. The Port Albert base covers from Seaspray to Glennie Island while the unit at Port Welshpool patrols Corner Inlet and the eastern side of Wilson’s Promontory and surrounding island and waters.
Volunteers run public education courses, training and safety patrols, monitor marine distress frequencies and conduct search and rescue operations.

By joining your local Landcare group, you can build skills and make new friends.
Country Fire Authority
Volunteering opportunities exist for Longford residents interested in becoming a firefighter or serving in a support or administrative role. The brigade meets at 8pm at the Longford Fire Station on the 1st Monday of every month.
Meals on Wheels
South Gippsland Shire Council's Meals on Wheels service prepares and delivers over 100 meals every day to people in Toora, Foster, Mirboo North, Leongatha and Korumburra.
